Carpet Care

Safe and simple spot removal from all carpet including Wool, Sisal and Seagrass carpets and rugs using Host products which are listed under accessories:

The Host Carpet Cleaning Kit for use wherever there is Carpet including hard to clean Naturals such as Wool, Sisal and Seagrass. Full Instructions included along with 1 x 1kg HOST Sponges, I x Spotter, 1 x Cloth and a Special HOST Spotter Brush. Always carry out a test for colourfastness by dampening a white towel with the cleaning product you intend to use.  Blot a small area 50 mm x 50 mm in an inconspicous location and look for any colour transfer onto the white towel, or any colour change in the carpet. Never apply spot cleaners directly to the carpet,  use a white terry towel. Remember “less is more” when applying spot removers.

Craftex carpet spot removal guide using Craftex products:

This guide is for removing common spots and spills from carpet using the Craftex products listed under accessories: Always carry out a test for colourfastness by dampening a white towel with the cleaning product you intend to use.  Blot a small area 50 mm x 50 mm in an inconspicous location and look for any colour tranfer onto the white towel, or any colour change in the carpet. Never apply spot cleaners directly to the carpet,  use a white terry towel. Remember “less is more” when applying spot removers.

  • Alchohol – use: Fibre Fresh Rinse or Pre Enzyme Solution
  • Ball Point Pen – use: Alco-Spot
  • Battery Acid – use: Top Grade or Regular Powder in solution (act quickly as batteries contain sulphuric acid)
  • Beer – use: Pre Enzyme Solution or Bio Enzyme
  • Beetroot – use: Coffee Stain Remover
  • Bird Droppings – use: Champion and then Fibre Fresh Rinse
  • Blackcurrant – use Coffe Stain Remover
  • Blood – use: Bio Enzyme (cold)
  • Burns – For wool carpets gently rub with fine sand paper.  For synthetic carpets fibres will melt together and may have to be cut out.
  • Candle Wax – Place a terry towel over the spot,  lightly apply a little heat with a warm iron.  Do not directly place the iron on the carpet.  Absorb as much wax as possible into the the towel and treat with Chewing Gum Remover and Solvent Spotter.
  • Chocolate/ Cocoa – use Microsplit,  Coffee Stain Remover or Bio Enzyme
  • Crayon – use: Extra Solv
  • Coca Cola – use: Microsplit or Coffee Stain Remover
  • Coffee – use Coffe Stain Remover or Microsplit
  • Cosmetics – use: Extra Solv,  then Dry Foam Shampoo
  • Curry – use: Dry Foam Shampoo and then Fibre Fresh Rinse or Microsplit.  Yellow stains will need specialist treatment.
  • Dye – use: Extra Solv then Dry Foam Shampoo followed by Fibre Fresh Rinse
  • Egg – use: Enzyme Prespray or Bio Enzyme
  • Excrement – use: Fibre Fresh Rinse or Urine Neutraliser or Bio Enzyme
  • Fat – use : Pre Enzyme Solution or Champion
  • Felt Marker Pen – use: Alco-Spot
  • Fruit Juice – use: Fibre Fresh Rinse or Coffee Stain Remover
  • Furniture Polish – use: Extra Solv and then Dry Foam Shampoo
  • Glue, adhesives – use: Acetone Glue Remover
  • Grass – use: Microsplit
  • Grease – use: Fabric Dry Cleaner or Champion followed by Fibre Fresh Rinse
  • Hair Lacquer – use: Acetone Glue Remover
  • Hair Dye – use Extra Solv followed by Fibre Fresh Rinse
  • Ice Cream – use: Pre Enzyme Solution or Bio Enzyme
  • Indentations caused by furniture or heavy objects: application of ice cubes or steam followed by gentle brushing
  • Ink, writing – use: Alco-Spot
  • Iron Mould – use Rust and Iron mould Remover
  • Iodine: Dry Foam Shampoo and if needed extract using Top Grade Powder
  • Jam – use: Dry Foam Shampoo
  • Ketchup – use: Dry Foam Shampoo followed by Fibre Fresh Rinse
  • Lipstick – use: Acetone Glue Remover or Extra Solv
  • Metal Polish – use: Extra Solv
  • Milk – use: Bio Enzyme
  • Mustard – use Dry Foam Shampoo
  • Nail Varnish – use: Acetone Glue Remover
  • Oil – use : Extra Solv or Champion
  • Ointment – use : Extra Solv
  • Paint Oil Based – use: Extra Solv
  • Perfume – use Fibre Fresh Rinse
  • Perspiration – use: Enzyme Pre Spray followed by Fibre Fresh Rinse
  • Plasticine and Blue Tack – use: Chewing Gum Remover and Solvent Spotter
  • Poster Paint – use: Alco-Spot
  • Red Wine – use: Microsplit (if fresh) or Coffe Stain Remover (if an old spill)
  • Rust – use: Rust and Iron Mould Remover
  • Shoe Polish Liquid – use : Dry Foam Shampoo
  • Shoe Polish Wax – use : Fabric Dry Cleaner followed by Extra Solv
  • Soft Drinks – use: Microsplit
  • Soot – dry vacuum first the Champion folled by Fibre Fresh Rinse
  • Syrup – use: Dry Foam Shampoo
  • Tar and Asphalt – use: Chewing Gum Remover and Solvent Spotter
  • Tea – use: Coffe Stain Remover
  • Toothpaste – use: Dry Foam Shampoo
  • Urine – use: Urine Neutraliser
  • Vomit – use: Urine Neutraliser or Bio Enzyme
  • White Wine – use: Fibre Fresh Rinse
  • Yellowing, Tanning – use neat Fibre Fresh Rinse or Coffe Stain Remove followed by Champion
