Floor Sander Hire
Choosing the best sander for your task:
Sanding hardwoods, stripping extremely hard factory finishes and for levelling cupped and uneven floor boards:
The Hiretech 8 ” drum floor sander is the best machine for this task. This sander makes short work of levelling and in four stages produces a fine finish. However it does require handling carefully and doesn’t get right to the edge so you’ll need to hire a belt sander too. The Hiretech machines are heavy, but very compact with the handle bars removed and they will fit in most cars.
Removing standard floor sealer on level floors ready for resealing , such as acrylics, polyurethene and wax finishes:
Our superb Tomcat orbital machines are great for this task, they are really easy to use and have a 500mm wide rectangular oscilating plate allowing the machine to sand right up to the wall and into corners. These machines are amazingly versatile and they can strip and also produce a fine finish and even polish. The Tomcats are very heavy and weigh over 75 kg so they are best transported in an estate car or van. Some of the weights are removable if you need to get the Tomcat upstairs.
Light sanding and final finishing:
The Oreck 430mm (17″) rotary floor machine has an orbital action producing an excellent finish without the risk of swirl marks often associated with rotary machines. Very easy to use and will sand right up to the wall but not right into corners. The Oreck is not aggressive enough for stripping hard floor sealers, but does a good job on waxed floors and safe to use on parquet. Really good for polishing too.
Sanding your floor :
- Repair or replace any broken boards and screw down any loose boards. Fill in gaps (caution: some floors need to breath to avoid damp).
- Make sure all screws and nails are below the surface or expensive damage can be caused to the machine.
- Floor sanding is a dusty business( less so with out Tomcat machines) , so open windows and seal around doors with masking tape (and remove tape soon after sanding or it is difficult to get off) .
- Clean and vacuum the floor when you change to a finer sanding sheet or belt to get the best finish
- Some factory applied finishes on laminated floors are extremely hard and may require a drum sander rather than an orbital machine.
Drum Type Floor Sander
Reference number 31
The Hiretech HT8 is tool hire industry’s floor sander of choice and the patented reversible clamp bar makes it easy for the user to fit abrasives, quickly and accurately. The drop forged clamp bar will not bend or distort over time ensuring that the abrasive paper is clamped securely in place at all times. The HT8’s unique lifting pin assembly lifts the clamp bar clear of the drum when fitting or removing abrasives.
The HT8 motor is a high speed heavy duty, self cooling four brush design. The motor will not stall or slow down under load when sanding with coarse grit abrasives, removing old surface finishes, deposits of wax or dirt. This high performance ensures a fast, consistent production rate making it easy for the user to get a regular and uniform finish across the whole floor area and throughout the complete range of abrasive grits.
Completely self contained with a high efficiency dust pickup, the HT8 breaks down into three simple component parts for easy transport. The high impact ABS injection moulded side guards and drum guard will not scar or scuff walls and protect the HT8 during transport.
The HT8 will sand all types of wooden floors including parquet to a fine score free finish. The HT8 can also be used on a wide range of other surfaces including some types of decking, fibre board, cork, engineered and composition floors.
